RAVEN (Respecting Aboriginal Values & Environmental Needs) is getting to be known as the best little NGO in the west (in our humble opinion). This is in huge part thanks to donors and supporters like you. For instance, one of the most effective things we’ve ever done was partner with 1% for the Planet. Not only have we made some great friends, we get to see our commitment to social justice carried forward by some wonderfully progressive social enterprises.
OnwardUp is the latest business from the 1% network to contribute to our work. Based in Alberta, OnwardUp is an outdoor industry sales group that partners with the most innovative outdoor companies to inspire outdoor experiences and respect for the natural environment. OnwardUP join Moxie Bookkeeping and Wai Sup Stand Up Paddleboards in supporting our core work — funding access to justice for First Nations in defence of the natural world.
New York City’s Moxie Bookkeeping make running a business a lot less stressful. Founder and CEO Ean Murphy supports over 100 small businesses, start-ups, non-profits and creative industries. Whip smart and generous too: no wonder she chose the name “Moxie”!
“Partnering with 1% for the Planet was one of the most ethical and strategic moves we could make as a charity,” said Laurie MacKenzie, RAVEN’s Development Director. “RAVEN has a strong commitment to social justice, and we only accept donations from organizations that are in line with our values for environmental protection. We are grateful for our 1% donors who have decided to partner with us to achieve our mutual goals.”

We have also received grants from MEC (Mountain Equipment Coop) and Michael Green Architecture. These infusions of love are the lifeblood of RAVEN and we are so grateful.

About 1% for the Planet
Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% FTP is a growing global movement of over 1,350 member companies in 43 countries that donate one per cent of their sales to environmental organizations worldwide. Each day, more than one new business joins the 1% for the Planet movement. As a network, the 1% community has become a frontrunner in funding the work of environmental groups around the world. www.onepercentfortheplanet.org
