#365 Indigenous: Julie Flett

Cree-Métis illustrator and author, Julie Flett, is a staple on any kid’s bookshelf. Flett’s distinct style brings spirit to the stories of Indigenous youth.

Known for her ability to tell stories (visually or with words) that amplify the voices of youth, Flett weaves Indigneous culture with Canada’s history — both joyful and grim.

Additionally, she aims to teach the next generation of storytellers the importance of Indigenous language reclamation by including a combination of English, Michif, and Cree in her works.
