IMG_0179Calls for a moratorium on Site C construction have been increasing. In addition to the loud rally outside the BC legislature last week, voices demanding a rethink of this project are coming from many corners, including the Union of BC Indian Chiefs,  the National Farmers Union, the Greater Vancouver Regional District and the Peace River Regional District.  All are calling on Premier Christy Clark to pause the project until the active court cases are completed.

Last week at the Union of BC Mayors convention, the Mayors of Victoria and Hudson’s Hope will put forward a resolution to lobby the province for further review of the dam by the B.C. Utilities Commission,  which had been excluded from the decision making process.

BC Government Service Employee’s Union announced its opposition to Site C due to its violation of indigenous rights and the massive loss of habitat and agricultural lands.
