It’s  wonderful to hear the ringing of 17 handdrums that came to life in a workshop on Salt Spring Island. Led by Cowichan musician and traditional teacher Hwiemtun, students learned lore and history of drumming and drum making, then set to work soaking, stretching, threading and tightening their drums under the patient tutelage of Hwiemtun and his lovely granddaughter. Thank you to Paul and Ana of the Blue Horse Gallery for opening up their studio to the group so we could raise $1700 for Pull Together!  Drums ringing out all over the island: what a blessing. Thank you Hwiemtun for your patience and octopus skills helping so many people at once!!
