Another year has come and gone. As we near the end of 2025, we are looking back at all we have done together, collecting the memories, reflecting on the incredible accomplishments, going over the lessons learned, and preparing for another year of supporting Indigenous-led justice and environmental rights. As we look ahead to the work to come, we are rooting into this past year, grateful for the beautiful ecosystem of supporters, Nation partners, lawyers, volunteers, and employees that make the work we do at RAVEN possible. Each individual’s impact is felt and allows us to flourish and grow.
This year, 1,280 people donated to support our campaigns. We launched our new monthly giving program, the RAVEN Sustainers, and monthly donors helped raise over $450,000. We felt the love from over 100 business donors, from incredible peer-to-peer fundraisers and organizers, and from our wonderful community, who continue to inspire and fuel our pursuit of justice.

It’s been an exceptionally busy year for the legal cases we support. Starting at the beginning of the year, with Gitxaała Nation at the BC Court of Appeal seeking to hold B.C. accountable to its own Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) to the two House groups of the Likhts’amisyu Clan defending Canada’s motion to strike the case back in August to Kebaowek First Nation receiving a positive ruling from the Federal Court of Appeal in February and then defending that decision during an appeal in October. RAVEN also launched two new campaigns this year with Mowachaht-Muchalaht First Nation and Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation. We are so grateful for all our Nation partners who are leading the way, seeking justice, and holding governments and industry accountable. Read on to learn more about the precedent-setting work that has been done this year.

We got to spend so much time with you this year! From in-person events like Solastalgia, where we addressed collective climate anxiety through art-making, to online events like RAVEN’s Book Club, it was so energizing to connect with all the incredible people who support RAVEN’s work. We also collaborated with some awesome organization partners this year, whose work, passion, and support are so deeply appreciated. Coming together and feeling our collective strength and solidarity energizes us and reminds us that we aren’t alone.

This year has been a year of growth; we launched our new video podcast, Re-Storying Justice. We also welcomed three new team members who have added so much to the RAVEN ecosystem. You may not always see the whole RAVEN team, but that’s because we are busy focusing on making justice accessible for the Nations we partner with! We’re a small team who are passionate about our work and are deeply committed to Indigenous sovereignty, climate justice, and education while rooting into joy and hope for a better future for all of us!

We are feeling such deep gratitude for every person who has supported our work this year, and by proxy, supported Indigenous sovereignty. As we witness governments and people in positions of power continue to violate Indigenous rights and harm the environment, we choose to look to each other for support, inspiration, and hope. Together, we are building a movement that is creating transformative change. Thank you for being part of the movement and for walking alongside us this year. We can’t wait to see what we do together in 2026.
