We are using our blog and social media to amplify media outlets and journalists who are being censored by Bill C-18 in Canada. Feel free to leave more in the comments!

Meta’s block on news has had massive implications for media outlets nationwide. Turtle Island News, a newspaper based in Six Nations of the Grand River, Ontario, says they have lost ad revenue since Meta’s blocking of news began. “In many cases, they [First Nations] are in very isolated areas and for Facebook to pull a stunt like this, it can cause so many problems for our people to get information to them,” Lynda Powless, publisher of Turtle Island News, told CBC Hamilton.

“First Nations are in precarious positions to begin with … these are communities that just even have problems getting to the internet.”
