BlackBird Fabrics raise $3000 to support Indigenous Legal challenges!
We want to give a big THANK YOU to BlackBird Fabrics for fundraising to support Indigenous legal challenges. The small business recently raised $3000 all of which will go to supporting Indigenous access to justice.
“Living and operating on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), səlil̓wətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) peoples, we recognize how crucial it is to push back against the ongoing and systemic anti-Indigenous racism that exists in Canada. The fight for environmental justice requires that we address the harmful policies that exist in our country and the fact that these policies disproportionately affect Indigenous communities. We are proud to support this Indigenous-led effort to fight for change and we’re so grateful for organizations like RAVEN that make it possible for these efforts to be heard.”
“As a part of our Monthly Non-Profit program over the past year, we’ve had the privilege to support a number of organizations that reflect our core values,” says Caroline Somos, founder of BlackBirdFabrics. “We are extremely grateful to have received a recommendation from one of our team members directing us towards RAVEN! Having seen the impact that RAVEN’s fundraising has on supporting Indigenous Peoples rights to protecting their traditional territories and the larger social significance of these legal fights, we were eager to give our support.”
