Ciranda Benefit Concert on SSI
On August 7, 2022 we invite RAVEN supporters on Salt Spring Island to come dance and sing with us to raise funds for Indigenous access to justice.
Ciranda is a type of dance and music from Brazil that is very popular. This six piece band is made up of Japanese, Canadian, Cuban and Brazilian musicians who have fallen in love with the circular call and response rhythms and joyful melodies. Enjoy traditional Brazilian music, such as choro, samba and bossanova, some with instrumental and some with vocals… all good for dancing !!
Regulars at Boteco in Vancouver, Ciranda have played the Brazilian Consulate national day event for 7 years, Vancouver South American film festival event, Vancouver downtown music festivals, and the Salt Spring winery. Members have also played benefit concerts to protect rainforests on Vancouver Island and in the Amazon, and are proud to be supporting RAVEN’s Indigenous justice work.
