Earnest Ice Cream offers RAVEN a cool $6K!

Here at RAVEN, we’re so grateful to all the businesses that continuously step up to show support for Indigenous rights. Earnest Ice Cream recently raised $6000 for Indigenous legal challenges. During a time where small businesses are experiencing deep uncertainty, it’s humbling to see them continue to take a stand for justice.

Earnest Ice Cream has led many fundraisers for RAVEN over the years. First launched in 2012, the small-batch, made-with-love ice cream company’s mandate has been to create ice cream that expresses their passion for flavour, together with a business that embodies their values of environmental and social justice.

“It is really an honour to be able to support Indigenous-led efforts to address climate change and advance environmental justice.”

“It is really an honour to be able to support Indigenous-led efforts to address climate change and advance environmental justice,” says Erica, co-owner of Earnest Ice Cream. “As non-Indigenous people living in the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh Nations we want to continuously learn how to be good guests and how to show up for the work of allyship, of reconciliation and of right relationship.”

“We see how the legal cases that Raven supports are a powerful way to both advance long overdue Indigenous legal rights, while also protecting the health of the oceans, rivers, and lands, which are threatened by outdated fossil fuel and other ecologically harmful projects. We believe that the path to addressing the climate crisis also requires addressing the injustices of colonization.”

The rights of Indigenous People have been under attack for generations,” says Ben, co-owner of Earnest Ice Cream. “We love how RAVEN supports Indigenous communities to use the settler legal system that was a part of taking so much from Indigenous people to build justice for their communities while fostering sustainability for everyone.”

We love you Earnest Ice Cream! Be sure to give these folks a follow on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and support the amazing work that they do. Plus, they make delicious ice cream!
