DESCRIPTION:RAVEN is continuing our book club this summer! Join us on June 5\, 2025 at 5pm PT (8pm ET) to discuss Unreconciled by Jesse Wente\, Anishinaabe writer\, broadcaster\, and arts leader. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this incredible book\, Wente recounts his life growing up in Toronto and how he navigated his career in the entertainment industry. He reveals the underbelly of Canadian racism that exists toward Indigenous Peoples\, showing just how much it has changed since his childhood and how there are still significant strides needed to address the blinders of Canadian society. It’s touching\, filled with sentiment\, and\, at times\, heart-wrenching.  \n\n\n\nJoin us as we parse through the simple yet complex themes that Wente brings through in this “part memoir part manifesto.”  \n\n\n\nDepending on the number of attendees\, individual participation may vary.  \n\n\n\nThe book can be purchased here or from your local independent bookstore. DESCRIPTION:Join RAVEN in person as we celebrate and learn more about our newest campaign in partnership with Mowachaht-Muchalaht First Nation (MMFN) to reclaim Aboriginal title and protect healthy forests. \n\n\n\nAt this special event\, we’ll hear from Chief Maquinna and Chief Jack of MMFN about the new legal challenge that is advancing Aboriginal title claim to protect their territory from unsustainable forest practices and\, as a result\, mitigate the effects of climate change. Following remarks from the Chiefs\, we’ll hear from representatives of Salmon Parks – an Indigenous-led forest conservation initiative to protect salmon on MMFN’s territory – and the Wilderness Committee\, who has been working closely with MMFN in protecting their territory.  \n\n\n\nTo close the night\, there will be games\, musical performances\, and light appetizers! \n\n\n\nGet your tickets now! \n\n\n\nThis event is in-person only.
