Get a sneak peek… and a Home on Native Land mug

Ever find yourself in a conversation about Indigenous rights that goes sideways? We’ve all been there. Whether you get tongue tied trying to explain ‘unceded territory’, or red in the face when trying to confront racist viewpoints, tackling the complexities of how we got to where we are right now as a country is tricky business.

It’s also something we all need to get a handle on, if we are going to put reconciliation into action. That’s why RAVEN has been working for two years to develop Home on Native Land, a self-guided, 10-lesson online course that makes learning about Indigenous laws and Canadian law accessible and… fun!

Yep, you read that right. Honestly: some of the inequities baked into the laws of this land are so ridiculous, if you didn’t laugh, you’d cry. In this lighthearted-but-super-serious series, Anishinaabe comedian Ryan McMahon hosts dialogues with wickedly smart Indigenous lawyers, scholars and leaders. The videos are paired with clever, sassy cartoons that sharply illustrate some of the absurdities — and opportunities — that exist within Canadian and Indigenous law.

Want it now? This series is being made available for free, right now, as a sneak peek for RAVEN monthly donors. Sign up to give $10, $25 or even $100 a month and you’ll not only get first crack at the course, but you’ll receive a Home on Native Land mug, too!

RAVEN’s vision has always included providing our supporters with the tools to understand and advocate for Indigenous rights. Thanks to the steadfast support of our monthly donor, we’ve been able to realise that long standing dream. Now, we’re excited to be giving early bird access to Home on Native Land to all of our monthly donors as a way of saying ‘Thank you’!
