Golden Ears Corn Roast raises $1570 for RAVEN

We were so delighted to get this update from Golden Ears Farm, located in Secwepemculecw (commonly known as Chase, BC)!

Golden Ears Farm has thrown a Corn Roast party annually for decades. It’s a great way to wrap up the season, enjoy food, music and company of friends and community. Three years ago a new tradition started, a silent auction to raise money for inspiring organizations around us, who are fighting the good fight for this planet.

We’ve raised funds for the Secwepemc Women Warriors who were involved with the Mount Polley Mining Disaster, and for the folks at Unist’ot’en Camp.

This year we focused in out the Treaty 8 First Nations groups who are opposing the Site C Damn in the Peace Country. We sent the call out to our friends and community. We received lots of beautiful pottery and artwork,  wine, gift certificates, gift baskets, herbal teas and tinctures, dried mushrooms, and much more. Our party goers had a blast bidding on items, trying to out do each other. Through everyone’s generosity,  we were able to raise $1570 for Raven Trust.
