Lena Laforet’s passionate call for us to Pull Together
“Imagine if bulldozers started digging in your backyard without your request or your permission. And: then they got away with it. That would never happen in Canada: except on Indigenous People’s land. Why are some people’s rights to their land honoured and some not?”
So begins teacher and activist Lena Laforet’s powerful message on her online fundraising page. Lena is reaching out to her community — a worldwide network of yoga teachers and conscious businesspeople — and inviting them to stand with her in support of Pull Together.
“I’m talking about the Trans Mountain pipeline,” Lena continues. “TMX is the pipeline that our government bought just last year. It’s a complex issue, but today let’s make it really simple. The core issue is rights: why are some people’s legal rights respected, and some not?”
Lena goes on to ask her friends, family and colleagues to consider making a donation to her fundraising page and support the Pull Together campaign. Thanks to our simple and secure system, setting up a fundraiser and collecting donations is a fast and easy process: start yours today!
All donations made to Pull Together between November 27 and December will be matched, doubling our impact. Please join Lena, in her words, “to restore the trust and the truth in our system, so we can hand something to future generations that we feel really good about.”
