Musicians dedicate fundraiser to Indigenous legal challenges.

We are so grateful to the band VSUVIUS for fundraising for RAVEN with their new song Water, which was written for water and climate justice.

Water is inspired by returning to roots and nature’s strength and resiliency. This isn’t about what’s wrong or right— only human rights.  Water is the basic fundamental nature of life. If we can see it, we can feel and celebrate life between the nuances.”

When asked why they wrote the track, VSUVIUS says: “In a time of collective uncertainty we want this song to serve as a reminder that what connects us universally can outweigh that. One of us grew up on Treaty 1 Territory and the other on the traditional territory of Lheidli T’enneh First Nation respectively. We both have mixed ancestry and feel that— if it’s not music— it’s the land that can help bring us closer to our disconnected cultural histories. Although many of us continue to face inequities and injustices today that may cause that, what’s constant is we know we can find solace in nature. Water is an essential part of us and we want to celebrate life between the nuances, and one small moment of ease at a time.”

“We decided to fundraise for RAVEN because a vision for a common future resonates with us,” says band member Sophia. “Fundraising for RAVEN means aiding in defending Indigenous rights, which intersects with human rights and environmental rights as well. We want to help protect this unceded land that we draw most of our creativity from in any capacity we can.”

All Bandcamp purchases of VSUVIUS’ debut single, “Water” will be donated to RAVEN until the end of the year to aid access to justice for water protectors, land and air defenders.
