Indigenous Peoples tend to be excluded or tokenized in the process of developing climate policy at all levels of government and in some NGOs. Yet Indigenous communities are at the forefront of boots-on-the-ground climate action – the only real kind: from stopping fossil fuel projects on their lands to climate-proofing housing in their communities.

We’re particularly excited to be doing this webinar series with the West Coast Climate Action Network, which brings together 200 organizations.  All the “usual suspects” in your inbox —and then some! — are now working together to raise the level of urgency about climate action in B.C., while foregrounding Indigenous leadership and the role of frontline communities.

As Naomi Klein reminded us at the WECAN launch event, the structures in place conspire to keep us working in our silos. Yet a crisis of this magnitude can only be confronted at scale by authentically working together.

I hope you can join us on January 12th!
