Vancouver: Young Agrarians raise nearly $1000 with potluck
On Thursday of the Week to End Enbridge, Young Agrarians teamed up with Fresh Roots Urban Farm Society to host a Farmers For Pull Together potluck at the Fresh Roots Schoolyard Farm at Vancouver Technical Secondary School.
According to one attendee, “It was a really sweet event, plus it rained – which meant that less folks came out but those who did were in a really good mood, as farmers are these days when rains come during a drought! Great food, great conversation, lots of interest in the campaign. ”
Between a small silent auction and donation jar, they raised close to $500, which will be doubled by a matching grant (as are all donations!) for a total of almost $1000.
That’s incredible! Thank you, farmers, for all the hard work you do to feed your communities! That you have enough energy left at the end of the day to raise funds for these seven First Nations is hugely inspiring.
