Noah Pred is a Juno-nominated Canadian electronic musician now living in Berlin, Germany.
In 2007, Pred released an instrumental electronic album called Ecocosm which was constructed entirely from sounds recorded in the rainforest of British Columbia, near the Salish Sea. Since the rights to the album have reverted to the artist, he plans to re-release it as a digital album on Bandcamp, with 100% of revenue generated to RAVEN!!
Says Pred, “It seems fitting that a project born of that magical land should help to protect it, and RAVEN seems poised to support a last line of defence against the increasingly exploitive, damaging, and seemingly insatiable corporate resource extraction threatening Canada’s most fragile ecosystems.”
Originally produced as an audio-visual live electronic performance for Vancouver’s New Forms Festival in 2005, Ecocosm was constructed entirely from field recordings captured in the coastal wilderness of British Columbia, Canada, which were then edited and assembled in Ableton Live. Initially released on New Kanada ten years ago, it’s now re-released as a benefit for an organization uniquely poised to provide a last line of defense against the exploitive, damaging, and seemingly insatiable corporate resource extraction threatening Canada’s most fragile ecosystems: RAVEN – Respecting Aboriginal Values & Environmental Needs. After Bandcamp’s percentage, all proceeds from Ecocosm sales go directly to RAVEN.
