RAVEN Book Club: Crushed Wild Mint

April 30 @ 5:00 pm 6:00 pm

Join RAVEN online via Zoom to discuss the book Crushed Wild Mint by Jess Housty, followed by a special live reading from Jess!

Crushed Wild Mint is a powerful and sensory collection of poetry rooted in land, ancestry, and lived experience. Written by Heiltsuk poet and land-based educator Jess Housty, the poems draw deeply from their homeland on the central coast of British Columbia and explore themes of connection to land, ancestral wisdom, family and community, and the interplay between the natural and spiritual worlds. Through vivid imagery, Housty invites readers into a reflective and embodied experience that blends history, ceremony, sexuality, grief, and joy. The book celebrates living and loving as ongoing practices and encourages readers to rethink community and relationality beyond human boundaries, connecting with place, kin and all our non-human relatives.

All participants will be entered into a draw to win a copy of Crushed Wild Mint following the event. Depending on the number of attendees, individual participation may vary.
