June 29th - July 31st

RAVEN’s Silent Auction is back for the second year in a row. All year, you support RAVEN’s work and the Indigenous-led litigation that is creating transformative change. Thanks to incredible business donors, we are able to offer Bid for Justice, so you can get a little something back. This year, we have items from cafes, galleries, eco-tourism companies, restaurants, outdoor activities, book stores, hotels, Indigenous artists and companies, and so much more. Each bid raises crucial funds for RAVEN’s programs, initiatives, and educational work that provides access to justice and promotes Indigenous rights and sovereignty.

Bid for Justice will be live on June 29th. Come back then to bid on auction items!

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the auction start and finish?

June 29th 9:00am to July 31st 11:59pm (PST)

Where and how can I place a bid?

Bids can be placed through our silent auction platform, RallyUp. In order to do so, navigate to Bid 4 Justice and select Bid on Auction Items. You can sort items by categories.

Once you have selected your item:

  • Select Place bid, then enter the amount you want to bid.
  • Select Add to cart, then check out to submit your bid. You will be asked to input your credit card information in order to place your bid. You will not be charged unless you have the winning bid
  • You can then choose whether you want to join our mailing list or be notified via phone or email about your bid’s status.
  • You will also be asked if you want to give an auction gift. Auction gifts are entirely optional, but they allow you to donate to RAVEN even if you do not win your bid item.
  •  You will be asked for an optional tip. Tips go to the platform provider in lieu of a percentage of donations. Tips are optional and can be set to zero by selecting “enter custom tip.”
  • Review your bids, add your payment information, and submit your bids. Please note: your bid won’t be officially submitted until you’ve completed the checkout process.

Do the prizes expire?

Yes, some of the auction items have a date by which the item/voucher needs to be used. Please check when you are bidding on excursions, accommodations, etc., to make sure you are able to use the prize within the time frame!

When I set my account up, it asks for my credit card information before placing a bid. Why do you need this?

In order to get the most out of the true “silent auction” experience, credit card information is taken upon registering for the auction. This way, we are able to successfully charge the winners when the silent auction comes to a close.

Why are you using RallyUp?

RallyUp offers RAVEN their services free of charge while also providing online support and assistance in setting up the website. RallyUp also allows for swift integration across our donor portals, thus guaranteeing donor reliability!

Will I be notified when I am outbid on an item?

Yes! As long as your notifications are turned on, you will be alerted when you are outbid on an item!

What emails will I get from RallyUp?

  1. You will receive bid confirmation emails
  2. A notification if someone outbids you – optional
  3. A notification if you are the winner
  4. You can turn off these notification emails through your account settings under “notifications.”

If I don’t win, can I still donate to RAVEN?

Yes! There are two ways to do so on this platform:

  1. On the homepage of Bid 4 Justice, you can select “Make a General Donation”. This will allow you to add a general donation to your cart.
  2. As you proceed through checkout, you will be given the option to “Give an auction gift”. With this, you can add on to your bid or ensure that you still donate even if you are not a winning bidder.

Why is there a tip option on the auction website?

RallyUp offers their services free of charge by adding the option of a tip at checkout. Offering a tip allows RallyUp to continue offering their services free of charge and allows for easy accessibility for nonprofits like us!

Please note that tips are entirely optional, and you can opt out by selecting “enter custom tip” and setting the percentage to zero.

Can I get a tax receipt for my bid?

Auction buyers may request a charitable tax receipt for the difference between the value and the final bid only if the final bid exceeds 125% of the value of the item. Some items may not qualify for a tax receipt, such as those from homemade goods.

Example: A bike is donated to a charity for an auction

  • The fair market value of the bike at the time of donation is $400
  • The fair market value of the bike is posted at the auction
  • The winning bid for the bike at the auction is $550

Calculation of eligible amount

Winning bid (the gift):                                     $550
Less advantage:                                                 $400
Total advantage:                                                $400
Eligible amount:                                                 $150

The amount of the advantage is $400, and a receipt may be issued to the winning bidder for the eligible amount of $150.

You can review the CRA regulations here.
